In today’s global era of extremely dynamic changes and the development of the knowledge-based economy, the importance of human resource management is becoming extremely important.

Every employer should remember that people are the most important resource in any organization, because they create the image of a given company, are entrepreneurial, creative, and have the opportunity to further expand their qualifications. Therefore, it is important that people management aims to make the best use of these opportunities, and thus reduce possible threats.

In which professions can you actually work in human resources? And what do these numerous different job titles actually mean? We have put together a large overview of all professions.

HR generalist

HR officers are the backbone of every HR department. You are the all-rounder and know your way around all areas of human resources. Small and medium-sized companies in particular often rely on HR generalists because they can solve all the tasks that arise.

The job as a HR generalist is a typical entry-level job after graduation, from which you can start your further career. Here you work less strategically, but more operationally in the middle of the action.

HR business partner

The Human Resources Business Partner is not only involved in the operational activities in human resources (personnel procurement, recruiting, development, etc.), but should ideally also have strategic responsibility.

An HR business partner works together with upper management and is also informed about decisions that affect the company’s development, for example in five years. In addition to everyday business, the task is then to plan these future corporate goals from a personnel management point of view and to introduce or optimize the necessary processes.

HR consultant

The job of a personnel consultant / HR consultant is to bring companies and applicants together. For this you are usually employed by a personnel service provider who is looking for suitable applicants on behalf of companies. This ranges from dual students to the new managing director.

Personnel consultants also work in a strongly sales-oriented manner. They usually have to win new customers, on whose behalf they then recruit applicants. So you should be someone who, even after the tenth rejection on the phone, still has the will to continue attracting customers. If you have received an order, you are responsible for the entire personnel process, from the job advertisement to the screening of the applicants to the interview.

Recruitment specialist/Talent executive

In recruiting, you are responsible for recruiting in the company. You are continuously looking for suitable employees for open positions and job offers. You create new channels for the active and passive search for personnel, sift through applications and conduct job interviews.

Talent manager/People partner

Another profession after studying human resources management is human resource development. This area deals with all measures that serve to promote and educate a company’s employees. The aim of personnel development is to ensure in the long term that the right employees can be deployed in the required positions at the desired time.

In today’s professional world there are a wide variety of further training and education opportunities. It starts, for example, with dual studies and extends to individual coaching. Personnel developers create a concept to enable the right employees to take the right training measures. This increases their quality and work know-how, which in turn has a positive effect on the company.

HR Marketing manager/ Employer Branding

Tens of thousands of companies are fighting for the best employees. Experts in personnel marketing and employer branding ensure that a company stands out from the rest and becomes more interesting for applicants.

The job often includes both office tasks and business trips, for example to graduate fairs or universities, in order to introduce the employer there. In the office you develop suitable measures to increase the attractiveness of the company to the outside world. This can include social media concepts, special websites for recruiting or online marketing.
